How Spray Foam Insulation Lansing Works

Spray Foam Insulation Lansing insulates and air seals homes, garages and outbuildings across Ingham, Eaton, Clinton and the edge of Shiawassee and Ionia counties. We spray closed-cell and open-cell foam, install blown-in cellulose and fiberglass where loose fill makes more sense, and pull out old insulation that is wet, matted, contaminated or in the way of proper sealing.

Every job starts with a visit. We go into the attic, the basement or crawl space, and any room that is hard to heat or cool. We measure what is already there, check its condition, and look for the places that leak the most air in a mid-Michigan winter: the rim joist where the house sits on the foundation, top plates, plumbing and flue chases, recessed lights, kneewalls and attic hatches. We also point out anything insulation should not bury, like a roof leak, damp framing, a bathroom fan that dumps into the attic, or signs of mice.

Then we tell you what we would do and why. Foam is the right tool for some surfaces and the wrong tool for others. On an open attic floor, sealing the gaps with foam and then blowing cellulose to depth often does the job for less money. On rim joists, basement walls, pole barn steel and roof decks with no attic, foam usually earns its price. When two approaches both work, the quote shows both.

How we run a job

  • Measure before pricing. No number goes on paper until we have seen the space.
  • Itemize it. Each area on the quote lists its material, its depth or thickness, the target R-value and its own price.
  • Seal first. Air leaks get closed before new insulation hides them.
  • Protect the house. Floors, belongings and HVAC returns are covered, and the spray area is closed off and ventilated.
  • Plan the date. Foam needs the right surface temperature, and some spaces need to be vacated for a day. We schedule around both.
  • Agree changes in writing. Work starts once you approve the quote, and any change is written up first.
